It is a fact universally acknowledged, that a man in possession of seven acres of woodland must be in want of a chainsaw (I know<\/a>… sorry). Thus there have been numerous\u00a0chainsaw related conversations since arrival at the farmlet and taking over\u00a0management\u00a0of the Seven Acre Wood.<\/p>\n

Large and small, petrol and electric, have all been duly considered, with the Forbearing Husband favouring the \u00a0Stihl MS251C<\/a>. Sadly for him I was blessed with a vivid imagination,\u00a0and after picturing\u00a0all kinds\u00a0of terrifying\u00a0blood-spurting, limb-detaching scenarios I’ve\u00a0vetoed that purchase until completion of\u00a0a chainsaw safety course*. In the meantime we agreed on a smaller and cheaper ‘starter’ level amputation device<\/del> chainsaw.<\/p>\n

This model\u00a0was\u00a0recommended by The Horsewoman<\/a>,\u00a0who also has a healthy fear of items with appendage\u00a0severing potential.\u00a0She got one for Christmas and says it’s a breeze\u00a0to start, easily managed by a beginner, and is\u00a0her new favorite farming tool. The Forbearing Husband is\u00a0off to buy chainsaw chaps and we are\u00a0booked in with our friend The Gentleman Farmer of Paparoa for a day of tuition on safe\u00a0chainsaw use.<\/p>\n

* Actually Forbearing Husband was totally in agreement about the safety course. He’s sensible like that.<\/p>\n
