Last weekend\u00a0was our first visit to the Whangarei Grower’s Market<\/a>. It runs\u00a06am – 10am every Saturday, and we planned to be there bright and early at 7.30am.<\/p>\n

So, anyway,\u00a0that didn’t quite happen! Fortunately at 8.30 when we finally turned up things still looked to be\u00a0still pretty much in full swing; fruit and veggies, honey, cheese, organic beef, heritage fruit trees, and seedlings at $1.50 a punnet…<\/p>\n

If the\u00a0Forbearing Husband was just a tad disappointed that there wasn’t one of those mini donut machines in evidence he didn’t say anything. He did excuse himself quite soon\u00a0to go to the\u00a0library though. All that healthy food in one location no doubt brought on an intellectual crisis requiring bibliotherapy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We came away with apples, brussels sprouts, broccoli, rocket and a large wedge of gouda with cumin seeds.\u00a0I took this photo of carrots for the ponies (we already had carrots in the fridge at home, but\u00a0these are much\u00a0prettier).<\/p>\n

We’re so used to popping out of the back door to grab a few greens or herbs that\u00a0it’s strange not having a vegetable garden set up at the new property yet. It is on my list, but so far keeps\u00a0getting trumped by the more urgent problems of leaking water pipes, and non-operational troughs and gates. That’s ok,\u00a0in a few weeks I’m going to be back for\u00a0some of those seedling punnets!<\/p>\n
